The Mercy Project

The “Mercy Project” is a program of Mercy Health Foundation that helps uninsured patients with their hospital bills and the purchase of prescription medications upon discharge from the hospital and emergency room. Mercy Regional Medical Center is the healthcare safety net for many residents of Southwest Colorado whose employers do not provide health insurance, or for individuals who “fall through the cracks.”

Mercy ranks 12th in the state (of 47 reporting facilities) for the amount of charity care provided. This past fiscal year, $6.2 million in charity care changes was provided to community residents. The “Mercy Project” offers some assistance to our community when all other financial options have been exhausted.

Though it is a low-profile program, it has helped a number of people. Community member Mary Lou Zink, the parent of a young newlywed who was faced with unforeseen emergency circumstances, recently received assistance from the “Mercy Project.”

She expresses gratitude for the generosity. “We are so grateful for the Mercy Project,” Mary Lou says. “They came to the rescue when unexpected illness, injuries, and life-changing events happened. Thank you, Mercy Health Foundation.”

Please contact the Mercy Health Foundation at (970) 764-2800 about ways to contribute to the "Mercy Project."

Enhancing the health of individuals
and our community

FACES They smile. They frown. They weep. They light up in recognition , beam in delight, reflecting the memory of kindness expressed, gifts shared, lives touched... The Mercy Health Foundation is the people who give and the people who receive; they are faces of patients and families. And when you close your eyes, the memory of these faces will stay because you helped.
